Difficulty in discovering one's purpose is a problem most people have to deal with for the rest of their lives . It becomes a bigger problem in Africa and most especially my great country Nigeria. It is worthy to note that everybody on earth was created by God for a reason but it is quite unfortunate that most persons spend all their lives never realizing that.
Let me share some questions which I believe are helpful in enabling anyone know why he is on this planet earth and it includes but not limited to the following :
1. Which Activity Completely Absorbs You?
When you are doing something that you are passionate about, you lose track of time. You can spend enormous time doing it and even forget to eat. A good example is, Isaac Newton who gets completely absorbed in his projects that his mum had to be the one to remind him to eat. For me, real estate business, writing and speaking are the things I am passionate about. If your job or line of business seems to be a great deal of work to you, then there is a high chance it is not your passion.
2.What are the jobs you hate or can not tolerate?
For me, the jobs I can not tolerate for a long time is the conventional 8 to 5 job. I hate being confined to a space called workstation and hence not available to do the things I genuinely care about. I love being able to work on my own terms. I love having the capacity to work from anywhere I am in the World. When I used to do salaried job, once it is Sunday evening, my mood start changing and would wish the weekend could be prolonged and during the work week, I look forward to Fridays.This led me to start thinking and I started admiring people that work on their own terms rather than the one imposed on them by their employers . This made me to start considering home based business. The point is, jobs you hate are a pointer to what you are not designed to do and it helps to redirect you to what you ought to be doing.
3.What are your challenges and pain points?
Take a deep look at your life. What are the things you struggled with? Some persons had a great challenge in business and when they manage to overcome, they start teaching people who want to do that line of business, rules to adhere to. The difference between successful and unsuccessful persons is that the successful ones learnt how to profit from their pains while the unsuccessful complains and never learns. It appears as if there is an unseen being in the Universe that makes it a rule that before people excel in their endeavors, they would have to go through untold pains of all sort and once they overcome, there is a bond between that person and the set of experiences.
4.What would you do if money ain't a problem?
Just imagine if all the money you will ever need for a lifetime was being handed over to you, then what will you be doing with the time you have at your disposal? I know the reason why most of us work is because it is an avenue to earn money to foot our bills. Ask yourself will you be doing that job or that line of business if money is not an issue? It is worth mentioning here that our society has not helped us in this regard in the sense that it paints a picture to us that the reason why we work is solely to earn money. For me, if I had all the money I want, I will rather spend my time teaching people how to make the best out of their lives through writing and speaking.
Please note that before carrying out the above exercise which comes in the form of questions whose answers points you to your purpose, ensure you are alone free from distraction and to get the most out of this, be honest with yourself. It is not an activity you rush, take your time in answering the questions, because it is what will lead you to your destiny that we are talking about.
